Samsung unveils Galaxy S III accessories: wireless charger, S-pebble MP3, AllCast wireless dongle in tow

While the star of today's Unpacked event is certainly Samsung's Galaxy S III, every hero can benefit from a few good sidekicks -- or in the case of this Android superphone, accessories. Up for offer will be a variety of goods including a flip cover, battery-charging stand, spare battery, car dock, "metallic docking stand" and HDMI adapter. Perhaps most interesting pieces, however, are the AllCast wireless dongle (which appears to be direct competition to HTC's Media Link HD video-mirroring device), a Wireless Charging Kit and an S-pebble MP3 player that plays nice with the scan and match feature in theMusic Hub app. We're gathering all the details we can, so in the meantime grab a look at the gallery below.

Even elephants prefer the Galaxy Note [VIDEO]

After I watched this video the first time I was convinced that some of the scenes showing Peter the elephant using the Galaxy Note had to be making use of a handpuppet. But I was proven wrong after watching the behind-the-scenes video below. Looks like they finally found the user best suited for Note’s massive 5-inch display.

Android 5.0 Jelly Bean said to launch in Q3

Following a report that stated Google’s next major Android updated could launch as early as the second quarter this year, the Internet giant is now said to be prepping Android 5.0 Jelly Bean for a third-quarter release.DigiTimes cited unnamed industry sources on Thursday in claiming Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich-powered smartphones will finally begin to proliferate in the second quarter this year. Read on for more.
After a slow start, Google’s latest OS will soon launch on handsets from Samsung, HTC, Sony and a number of other phone vendors. HTC has already announced its first three Android 4.0 phones — the One X, One S andOne V — and Sony announced a pair of devices that will be released with Gingerbread but will be updated to Ice Cream Sandwich soon after launch. Samsung is expected to unveil the Android 4.0-powered Galaxy S III in April or May.
Then, just a few short months later in the third quarter, DigiTimes claims Google will unveil its next major OS build, Android 5.0 Jelly Bean. “The rapid shift of OS may not be healthy for the development of the Android ecosystem,” according to the site’s anonymous sources.
Ice Cream Sandwich is currently found on between 2% and 3% of Android smartphones according to DigiTimes, though Google’s own online version tracker puts the figure at just 1.6%.

Samsung exec says Galaxy S III may launch in April

By:  | Mar 21st, 2012 at 12:05PM

Despite an earlier leak that made a May announcement seem increasingly likely, Samsung is apparently still considering an April launch for its highly anticipated Galaxy S III smartphone, South Korean news site MK reports. Samsung president for the China region Kim Young-ha is quoted as having said that the company is still pushing for an April launch. ”In order to increase sales of the Galaxy S3 as well as the Galaxy Note which is already very popular in China, the company is considering rescheduling the rollout of the Galaxy S3 from May to April,” Kim reportedly said Wednesday while speaking at the Samsung Forum 2012. An earlier report suggested that the flagship smartphone is currently slated for a May 22nd announcement, as tipped on the home screen of a leaked product render. With HTC’s One-series smartphones set to launch next month, the South Korea-based vendor is undoubtedly under pressure to push up its Galaxy S III release, though carriers could stand in the wayhere in the United States. BGR exclusively reported that the Galaxy S III will feature a 4.8-inch display with 1080p HD resolution, a quad-core Exynos processor, Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich and a remarkably slim case made of ceramic.
